We begin our journey through the captivating heart of Apulia as we delve into the enchanting Itria Valley, adorned with its distinctive villages. Highlights include Alberobello, renowned for its iconic trulli, charming houses with conical roofs, and Locorotondo, celebrated as one of Apulia’s most picturesque villages, featuring a circular historical center and whitewashed houses. Our exploration continues to Ostuni, aptly named the White City, where every winding alley promises a delightful discovery. Accommodation at the 3-star Superior Hotel Albánia in Otranto (or similar), a charming boutique hotel in the town centre, featuring lively Mediterranean colours.

Baroque Beauty and Coastal Wonders

Begin your journey in Lecce, the baroque jewel of Salento. Stroll through its elegant streets, admire ornate churches and historic piazzas, and don’t miss the chance to taste a traditional pasticciotto, the city’s beloved custard-filled pastry.

Then head to the Adriatic coast to marvel at the dramatic sea stacks of Sant’Andrea. These stunning cliffs and rock formations, shaped by wind and waves, offer unforgettable panoramic views.

Otranto, Wine, Seafood and Frescoes

Discover the enchanting historic centre of Otranto, highlighted by its unique Cathedral. Then, head to Gallipoli, where the fish market offers a food lover’s paradise and the old town, with its impressive defensive walls, is a must-see destination. We continue our journey to the Basilica of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Galatina, renowned for its splendid frescoes, offering an unforgettable cultural experience. Today’s itinerary includes a visit to a local winery to sample some of the region’s finest wines.

Exploring the Coast: Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, and the Delights of Bari

Embark on a journey back north to explore the charming seaside villages of Monopoli and Polignano a Mare. While Monopoli may be lesser-known, it’s a must-visit for its enchanting old town, hidden coves, and exceptional restaurants. Polignano a Mare, one of Puglia’s gems, captivates with terraces overlooking the sea and poetic murals adorning the historic center. Our day concludes in Bari, where the ‘orecchiette’ street offers a unique spectacle. Witness the preparation of various homemade ‘orecchiette’ specialties by skilled housewives. Sassi Wonders: A Tale of Stone and History

Today we have the chance to visit Trani, a refined coastal town where the magnificent cathedral rises elegantly by the sea. Its bright white stone and tall bell tower, once a beacon for sailors, create a truly memorable scene.

Alternatively, you may choose to return to Bari by train, taking time to revisit the city and explore more deeply what intrigued you most.
