Day 4

You cannot miss a day walk on the pleasant hills surrounding the lake, among woods and olive groves. The walk is easy and will offer you wonderful panoramas on Lake Como and the surrounding high mountains. Tasting typical lunch along the way to enjoy our local food.

You will walk on part of the “Sentiero del Viandante” (wayfarer trail), an interesting route dating back to the Roman period and running along the eastern coast of Como Lake (the so-called branch of Lecco). The whole path is 40 km approximately and it is divided into 4 stages whose difference in altitude is varying. It is sometimes quite demanding but at the end it will offer you wonderful views on the lake and on Triangolo Lariano mountains.

Fitted out in 1989, this walking path offers you the chance to enjoy some peaceful hours deep in the calm of the environment as well as wonderful views on the lake. Lake Como panorama has inspired Leonardo da Vinci when painting the background in his worldwide known paintings “Gioconda” and “Last Supper”. On request, you can also have a typical Italian cooking class in a typical crotto along the way.

As an alternative option, in case you prefer a more relaxing and tasting day, we can suggest you a tour to Chiavenna, at the top end of Como Lake, in the heart of Valchiavenna, the Italian Alps visited by Leonardo Da Vinci and mentioned in its Codes and drafts, yielding  world-wide known wines; here you can taste wine and cheese in a typical Crotto, a cave where wine and cheese were once aged, and have a walk to  Acquafraggia waterfalls (3 hours approximately to go and back). Leonardo Da Vinci was intensely moved by the magnificence of Acquafraggia waterfalls and mentioned them in the Codice Atlantico where he described their beauty. “Su per detto fiume” (Mera river) “si truova chadute di acqua di 400 braccia le quale fanno belvedere…”.

Crotto is a natural cave formed by ancient rocks from landslides where temperature is kept constant at 4 to 8 degrees by the "sorel", an air flowing between rocks and creating a perfect environment to age wine (as there is no temperature variation) as well as cured meats or cold cuts and cheese from alpine pastures and dairies. The local Crotto were mentioned by Leonardo da Vinci in its Codes and drafts as good quality and cheap “Osteria”.

Extraordinary wines have been produced for centuries in this area. Leonardo da Vinci will exalt the "Powerful wines and more" of the valley. In this mountainous area, vineyards have been obtained thanks to the effort and the constant engagement of generations of farmers by terracing the land, which represents one of the most important features of the strict link between territory and viticulture. Hills surrounding Chiavenna are proof of this.

Day 5

Departure from Dervio will be arranged according to your travel schedule.

Kite surfing is possible from April to October. In other period of the year, different outdoor activities can be suggested such as hiking, snow-shoes walks, ski in the winter resorts in the area.

The itinerary and the quote will be customized according to your requirements and interests and to the number of participants
